My Philosophy of Supervision

I see supervision as a shared responsibility and a collaborative activity, with the supervisor and supervisee working together within a professional, ethical and moral framework to ensure the safety of the clients. As part of the working alliance we both share the responsibility for:

  • the development of the skill, knowledge and training of the supervisee.
  • maintaining the well being of the supervisee by allowing them the space to freely express their feelings and feel supported as they 'let off steam', lament or laugh.
  • practising safely and ethically, in particular in relation to the context in which the supervisee practices.
I have a further responsibility to care for the supervisee offering trust, respect, empathy and genuineness. In a private, safe, confidential and accepting setting, I will give support to the supervisee both as an individual as well as a practitioner who is developing skills and expertise.

My Model of Supervision

I use the cyclical model of Supervision [Page and Wosket] which assists my style of supervision as it is flexible and allows movement between the five stages: contract; focus; space; bridge and review.

Please do contact me if you are interested in supervision and we can chat it through in more detail.
